Inside Festa '26: Fikr Ventures at the Flagship Cohort 6.0 Demo Day in Valletta
Fikr Ventures attends the flagship Cohort 6.0 Demo Day at Grandmaster's Palace, where 24 founders selected from over 1,000 applicants pitch to a curated audience of investors
Saturday, July 4 marked the centerpiece of Festa '26: the flagship Cohort 6.0 Demo Day, held at the historic Grandmaster's Palace in Valletta. Fikr Ventures joined a curated audience of investors and ecosystem leaders for a seated summit that opened with a welcome reception, continued through four showcase acts on the main stage, and closed with a networking banquet in the palace's open-air courtyard.
The evening's agenda included a grand opening from SuperCharger Ventures and Malta Enterprise, a special address by Dr. Gordon Cordina, Chairman of Bank of Valletta, a featured talk by Malta's Financial Services Authority (MFSA), and closing remarks from Janos Barberis, Co-Founder of SuperCharger Ventures.
Cohort 6.0 itself showcases 24 seed and pre-Series A startups selected from more than 1,000 applicants across 12 countries, averaging roughly $500,000 in annual recurring revenue and on a clear path toward profitability and EU expansion via Malta. Among the founders pitching: Frizzle, a US-based startup that grades handwritten math at 97% accuracy, giving teachers back hours every week and turning every worksheet into real-time data on how each student actually thinks; and KidzRise, a Tunisia-based early talent detection platform that uses AI to identify every child's talents and build personalized growth paths around them.
The cohort also includes Coraltalk, a Canadian venture built on a simple premise — if a student can't explain it, they don't understand it — using AI-powered oral assessments to verify real understanding; Elevify, a Brazilian company building toward a world where quality learning is free and within everyone's reach; AtlasVR, a Swiss startup transforming hands-on industrial training with AI-powered VR so trainees learn faster and safety knowledge lasts; and Discentis, an Italian venture building a community-first professional development platform that combines practical training, peer learning, and mentorship for teachers.
For Fikr Ventures, the flagship Demo Day offered a close look at some of the most promising EdTech companies coming out of Europe this year, and a reminder of how much shared ground exists between Malta's startup ecosystem and the EdTech founders the fund backs across the MENA region.
