A Week Built for Malta's Startup Ecosystem: Fikr Ventures at Festa '26 Community Events

Festa '26 is more than its two flagship Demo Days. The week opened with four days of community programming designed, in SuperCharger Ventures' words, to energize and elevate Malta's startup ecosystem by connecting local industry leaders with global innovators.

The program began on June 29 with the Edtech & AI Innovation Conference, hosted by the University of Malta, where researchers, educators, policymakers, and startup founders explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping learning, skills development, and the broader EdTech landscape, with a specific lens on what this means for Malta. On June 30, the Startup Ecosystem Insight Lab, hosted by Doctorate Hub, invited founders and policymakers to contribute their own perspectives, turning lived startup experience into structured insight for strengthening the wider ecosystem. The community program closed on July 2 with Tech Startups Compliance & Regulation, a practitioner-led session by Comply.Land unpacking the regulatory landscape high-growth tech startups need to navigate, from data protection to financial compliance and AI governance.

This community-first week is backed by a wide ecosystem of partners, including Malta Enterprise, the University of Malta, Bank of Valletta, KPMG, Classera, Heritage Malta, DoctorateHub, Comply.Land, and Investment Hub, among others, reflecting the scale of collaboration SuperCharger Ventures has built around Festa.

That scale is consistent with SuperCharger Ventures' broader mission as a global EdTech ecosystem builder, with hubs in Malta, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and Rwanda, and a network that includes over 6,200 accelerator applications, more than 200 startups accelerated, and collaboration with over 168 higher education institutions across 36 countries through its Digital Education Council.

For Fikr Ventures, taking part in this community-first chapter of Festa '26 was a chance to see how a small island ecosystem can build outsized global reach, and a reminder of what deliberate, cross-border ecosystem building can look like for EdTech founders in Jordan and across the MENA region.
